Homeopathic Support for the Mom Who’s Tired, Snappy, and Not Feeling Like Yourself

Tired mom washing dishes

Mother’s Day is a beautiful time to honour moms. But let’s be honest. Many moms are tired.

Not just “I need a nap” tired. But deeply tired.

And as a mom of two young boys, I understand this in a very real way.

  • The caring.

  • The night waking.

  • The snacks.

  • The questions.

  • The messes.

  • The emotions.

The mental list that never seems to end.

Motherhood is beautiful, but it can also stretch you in ways you did not expect. Sometimes you are carrying everyone, thinking ahead for everyone, and still trying to show up with love and patience.

And eventually, that can catch up with you.

So in honour of Mother’s Day, I want to share three common struggles many moms face — and three homeopathic remedies that may help support you through them.

We’ll look at:

1. Caregiver burnout — when you feel worn down from caring for everyone else.

2. Hormonal shifts — when you do not feel like yourself.

3. Mom rage — when your patience runs out faster than it used to.

Let’s walk through each one.

1. The Worn-Out Caregiver — Caregiver Burnout

This is the mom who has been caring for everyone else for a long time.

✔️ You are getting up in the night.

✔️ You are checking on everyone.

✔️ You are thinking ahead for everyone.

✔️ You are doing what needs to be done.

And for a while, you tell yourself, “I’m fine.” Until one day, you are not.

✔️You feel worn down.

✔️Foggy.

✔️Weak.

✔️Maybe even a little dizzy.

You may feel tired, but also wired. And even when you rest, it does not seem to fully help.

Remedy Picture: Cocculus indicus 30C

Cocculus indicus 30C

Cocculus is a remedy I often think of for caregiver burnout.

It can fit when there has been:

  • Broken sleep

  • Night waking

  • Long-term caregiving

  • Weakness

  • Dizziness

  • Brain fog

  • Feeling spaced out

  • Tiredness that does not improve much with rest

This is quiet depletion.

It may not look dramatic from the outside, but it feels very real on the inside.

How to Take It: Cocculus indicus 30C

  • Take twice daily until very much better.

  • Stop when there is clear improvement.

2. The Mom Who Does Not Feel Like Herself — Hormonal Shifts

This one can be harder to explain. Nothing may be obviously wrong. But you do not feel like yourself.

✔️ Your patience is shorter.

✔️ Your mood feels different.

✔️ Your energy is not the same.

✔️ You may feel disconnected from yourself or from the people you love.

✔️You may want space. Quiet. Time alone.

✔️And then you feel guilty for feeling that way.

But hormonal shifts can affect so much. They can affect your mood, energy, patience, and ability to connect. This can show up during PMS, postpartum, weaning, perimenopause, or other seasons of hormonal change.

Remedy Picture: Sepia officinalis 200C

Sepia officinalis 200C

Sepia is one of the most well-known remedies for hormonal shifts in women.

It can fit when there is:

  • Irritability

  • Wanting to withdraw

  • Feeling emotionally flat

  • Feeling disconnected from loved ones

  • Low energy

  • Everything feels like too much

  • Wanting to be left alone

A common Sepia feeling is:

“I love my family, but I need everyone to stop needing me for a minute.”

That does not make you a bad mom. It means your body may be asking for support.

How to Take It: Sepia officinalis 200C

  • Take every 3 days until very much better.

  • Stop when there is clear improvement.

3. The Mom Whose Patience Runs Out Fast — Mom Rage

This one can come on quickly. You snap. Then you wonder, “Why did I react like that?”

✔️ The noise feels too loud.

✔️ The mess feels too much.

✔️ The interruptions feel endless.

✔️ The smallest thing can push you over the edge.

And then comes the guilt. But mom rage does not come out of nowhere. It often comes from buildup.

✔️Too much stress.

✔️ Too little sleep.

✔️ Too much noise.

✔️ Too many people needing you.

✔️ Too long pushing through.

At some point, your system says, “Enough.”

Remedy Picture: Nux vomica 200C

Nux vomica is a very common remedy picture for the mom who is overstimulated, tense, and short-fused.

It can fit when there is:

  • A short fuse

  • Snapping quickly

  • Irritation from noise, mess, or interruptions

  • Feeling overstimulated

  • Poor sleep

  • Tension

  • Feeling on edge

  • Pushing through even when exhausted

  • Guilt after reacting

Nux vomica 200C

This is often the person who is still getting things done, but inside she feels wound tight.

How to Take It: Nux vomica 200C

  • Take twice daily until very much better.

  • Stop when there is clear improvement.

How to Choose the Right Remedy

You do not need all three remedies.

Choose the one that matches you best.

If you are worn down from broken sleep and caring for everyone, think Cocculus.

If you feel hormonally off, disconnected, and want to withdraw, think Sepia.

If you are snapping, overstimulated, and on edge, think Nux vomica.

Homeopathy is about matching the remedy to the picture. So pause and ask: “What feels most like me right now?”

Start there.

From One Mom to Another

Being a mom is one of the hardest jobs. And somehow, it is also one of the most rewarding.

We love our families deeply. We want to care for them well. We want to show up with patience, love, and strength. But sometimes, in the middle of caring for everyone else, we forget to care for ourselves. And I think so many moms know that feeling. We know we are supposed to “put our own oxygen mask on first,” but living that out is not always easy.

So from one mom to another, let this be your gentle reminder:

You matter too.

Your body matters.

Your emotions matter.

Your exhaustion matters.

Your needs matter.

Taking care of yourself is not selfish.

It helps you show up better for the people you love. And thankfully, homeopathy gives us a simple and gentle way to support the body through some of these very common challenges moms face.

Whether it is caregiver burnout, hormonal shifts, or those moments when your patience runs out faster than you want it to, there are remedies that can help.

So this Mother’s Day, I hope you feel honoured.

But I also hope you feel reminded to care for yourself too.

With love,

~Lisa Heinrichs PHom M

Thank you for a useful post! I just have one question.. What if I'm using sepia, (every 3rd day), regulary for hormonal shifts in perimenopase and at the same time have that irritated, moody, overstimulated, on the edge feeling. Can I combine the sepia and nux vomica in some way? Or is there another way to support all those things happening in the body and mind in perimenopuse?
